Industrial IoT Gateways & Protocol Converters

An industrial IoT gateway sits between field devices (PLCs, meters, sensors, drives, CNC machines) and the software that uses their data. It reads serial and fieldbus protocols, pre-processes data at the edge and publishes it to a cloud or on-premises platform over Ethernet or cellular. TouchVision offers two gateway families plus matching software.

Gateway line-up

TV-IS013 Industrial IoT Edge Gateway is built on ST’s STM32MP135 (Cortex-A7, up to 1 GHz) with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two RS-485 ports, CAN, 4G and Wi-Fi. It collects data from PLCs, instruments, CNC machines and robot arms and publishes it via MQTT, Modbus, OPC UA or HTTP, with serial forwarding, transparent transmission, remote configuration and encryption.

TV-W-GYWG Multi-Protocol Gateway is a Cortex-M4 data-acquisition gateway for machines and assets with mixed signals: two 4–20 mA inputs, two frequency inputs, two CAN buses with J1939, two RS-485 ports, LoRa 915 MHz, NB-IoT, 4G and Ethernet. It runs from 18–36V DC between -25 °C and +85 °C.

Typical uses

  • Machine builders: remote monitoring and predictive service for equipment in the field.
  • EV charging and energy storage: site-level data collection from meters, inverters and BMS.
  • Smart factories: connect legacy PLCs to MES or cloud dashboards without replacing controllers.
  • Buildings, agriculture and environmental monitoring: low-power LoRa/NB-IoT links for dispersed sensors.

Protocols and integration

The gateways support Modbus RTU/TCP, CAN/CANopen/J1939, MQTT, OPC UA and HTTP, and connect to mainstream IIoT platforms. For local visualization, pair them with HMaker SCADA on a TouchVision panel PC. TouchVision also develops combined HMI + gateway terminals on the STM32MP135 (Cortex-A7 + M4), with -40 °C to 85 °C operation and a 10-year-plus lifecycle, for customers who want one device at the machine.

Custom gateways, firmware and enclosures are available through our OEM/ODM service.

Frequently asked questions

What does an industrial IoT gateway do?

It collects data from field devices over protocols such as Modbus RTU, CAN or 4–20 mA, processes it at the edge and sends it to cloud or on-premises software over MQTT, OPC UA, HTTP or Modbus TCP.

Can a TouchVision gateway convert Modbus to MQTT?

Yes. The TV-IS013 reads Modbus devices over RS-485 or Ethernet and publishes the data over MQTT, and also supports OPC UA and HTTP.

Which gateway supports CAN J1939?

The TV-W-GYWG has two CAN ports supporting CAN 2.0A/B and J1939, suitable for vehicles, generators and mobile machinery.

Do the gateways work in remote locations?

Yes. Uplinks include 4G and, on the TV-W-GYWG, NB-IoT and LoRa, and both gateways are rated for industrial temperature ranges.
